What’s Actually Causing Your Hair Loss

Hair growth depends on three things: adequate nutrition, stable hormone signaling, and healthy blood flow to the scalp. When any of these breaks down, hair thins.

The most common drivers are:

  • DHT sensitivity and androgen metabolism: Some hair follicles are genetically responsive to dihydrotestosterone. But genetics aren’t destiny. Inflammation, insulin resistance, and poor liver function all amplify DHT’s effect on follicles.
  • Nutritional deficiency: Hair requires iron, zinc, B vitamins, and amino acids. Low levels slow the growth phase and accelerate shedding.
  • Thyroid and metabolic dysfunction: Hypothyroidism and poor glucose control impair nutrient absorption and increase inflammation systemwide, including at the scalp.
  • Hormonal imbalance in women: Post-birth control, perimenopause, or chronic stress can shift estrogen, progesterone, and thyroid ratios. Hair sheds when hormones destabilize.
  • Chronic inflammation and poor circulation: Inflammation restricts blood flow to hair follicles. Without adequate nutrient and oxygen delivery, follicles shrink.

Over-the-counter treatments ignore these root causes. They also ignore the fact that hair restoration takes time. Hair growth cycles last 2-6 months. You need a protocol that addresses the biology while you wait for new growth.

Treatments Available for Men and Women

Hair loss presents differently in men and women. Our protocols reflect that.

For Men

Androgenetic alopecia is the most common cause. But it’s rarely DHT alone. We address DHT sensitivity, scalp circulation, inflammation, thyroid function, and nutritional status. Peptide therapy, hormone optimization, and targeted pharmaceuticals work together to slow loss and regrow hair.

By age 50, roughly 65% of men show significant hair loss.

For Women

Hair loss is often multifactorial. Post-birth

control alopecia, perimenopause shedding, thyroid dysfunction, and iron deficiency are common culprits. Some women respond well to minoxidil alone. Most need hormone rebalancing, micronutrient repletion, and metabolic support.

Female pattern loss is usually diffuse thinning — not the receding hairline men see.
Both men and women benefit from consistency. Hair grows on a 2-6 month cycle. You should expect to see results between months 3-6 on a solid protocol. By month 12, most patients see significant improvement in thickness and growth rate.

Lab-Based Hair Restoration at Dynamis

Hair restoration at Dynamis begins with comprehensive lab work. Our board-certified providers order a full hormone panel, thyroid function, iron and micronutrient levels, glucose metabolism markers, and inflammation screening. These results tell us exactly what’s driving your hair loss.

From there, we build a personalized protocol. For some patients, this means targeted peptide therapy. BPC-157 and other peptides improve blood flow, reduce inflammation, and support scalp health. For others, it means optimizing thyroid function, managing insulin resistance, or correcting micronutrient deficiency. Most patients need a combination.

Your protocol might include:

  • Peptide therapy for hair restoration: Specific peptides improve scalp blood flow, strengthen follicles, and extend growth phase. We use them alongside pharmaceutical-grade topicals when appropriate.
  • Hormone optimization: Rebalancing estrogen, progesterone, thyroid, or other hormones that affect hair growth.
  • Micronutrient repletion: Iron, zinc, B vitamins, and amino acids dosed to your specific lab results, not generic RDA levels.
  • Metabolic support: Managing insulin, inflammation, and cortisol to remove systemic barriers to hair growth.
  • Topical or oral pharmaceutical support: Minoxidil, finasteride, or other medications prescribed strategically as part of a larger plan.

All medications and peptides come from licensed U.S. pharmacies. All protocols are monitored with check-in labs every 3-6 months to confirm the protocol is working and adjust as needed.

Why Topical Treatments Alone Don’t Solve It

Minoxidil is a vasodilator. It increases blood flow to the scalp, which can extend the growth phase. But if your nutritional status is poor, if your thyroid is struggling, or if systemic inflammation is high, blood flow alone won’t restore thickness. You’re pouring water into a broken cup.

Finasteride blocks 5-alpha reductase, the enzyme that converts testosterone to DHT. It works for androgenetic alopecia. But it doesn’t address nutritional gaps, thyroid dysfunction, or inflammation. Some patients experience sexual side effects or continued hair loss despite consistent use.

Neither addresses why DHT is damaging your follicles in the first place. Is it inflammation? Poor scalp circulation? Nutritional deficiency? High insulin? These factors amplify DHT’s damage. Ignore them, and hair loss continues even on medication.

Start Your Hair Restoration Protocol

Your first step is a kickoff call with one of our board-certified providers. You’ll discuss your hair loss history, any medications or supplements you’re using, and what you’ve already tried. The provider will order your labs and outline a preliminary protocol.

Labs take 7-10 days. Once results are back, your provider builds your personalized plan. You’ll receive your peptides, topicals, or oral medications from a licensed U.S. pharmacy within 5-7 business days.

Follow-up labs happen at month 3 and month 6. We adjust your protocol based on results, side effects, and progress. Most patients see meaningful improvement by month 6. By month 12, hair thickness and growth rate are noticeably better.

Frequently Asked Questions

Hair grows in cycles. The active growth phase lasts 2-6 months. You won’t see new growth until your follicles enter this phase, which takes 4-8 weeks on a solid protocol. Most patients notice less shedding by month 3 and visible regrowth by month 4-6. Full results take 12 months.

It depends on the root cause. If your hair loss is purely genetic (androgenetic alopecia), you may need ongoing treatment to maintain results. If it’s driven by correctable factors like thyroid dysfunction, micronutrient deficiency, or hormone imbalance, you might taper or stop once those factors are resolved. Your provider will discuss sustainability at month 6.

Yes. Combination therapy is often more effective than any single treatment alone. Peptides address inflammation and blood flow. Minoxidil extends the growth phase. Finasteride reduces DHT sensitivity. Together, they work from multiple angles. Your provider will determine the right combination for your specific labs and history.

Finasteride alone works in roughly 60-70% of people with androgenetic alopecia. If you’re not seeing results, the cause is likely something finasteride doesn’t address: inflammation, poor scalp circulation, nutritional deficiency, or thyroid dysfunction. Our lab work identifies what’s missing. Many patients who plateau on finasteride improve when we add peptide therapy and nutritional support.

Peptide safety depends on the specific peptide, dose, and your individual health status. BPC-157 and other peptides used for hair restoration have solid safety data when prescribed by a board-certified provider and sourced from licensed U.S. pharmacies. Your provider screens for contraindications and monitors you with labs throughout treatment.
